Welcome to Coon Cubs Nursery

Thank you for visiting our website and a very warm welcome to Coon Cubs Nursery! We are maine coon breeders and are dedicated to following a responsible breeding program, focusing on health, type and temperament, producing top pedigree maine coon kittens.

All of our breeding cats have been individually chosen and imported from Russian lines. We are incredibly proud of the quality, size and temperaments of our Maine Coon cats. All of our breeding Coons go through complete and comprehensive DNA testing for over 45 health conditions, over 25 physical traits, blood type and over 70 breeds and population screenings, reporting breed mix down to 1%. We also test for FIV and FeLV.

All of our cats and kittens are fed a very high quality diet of raw complete, Akela 90:10 grain-free complete dry kibble and the adults occasionally have whole prey day old chicks to drive their natural instincts!

We are very passionate about Maine Coons and feel grateful to be able to spend every day with this magnificent breed. Unfortunately many Maine Coons in the UK seem somewhat diluted in appearance, size, temperament and health. We aim to breed outstanding, well-socialised kittens and to continue their original qualities. We are particularly keen on smokes and silver maine coons, but offer a variety of other colours too.

Despite what some may think, breeding is incredibly time consuming, stressful and heart-breaking at times and VERY expensive. The money we receive from our kittens, goes directly back into raising our Maine Coons, ensuring they receive a fantastic quality of life.

In return, they give us such joy, devotion and unconditional love.

We are licenced by Stirling Council and TICA registered - located in Callander, within the Trossachs National Park, Scotland, UK.

Did You Know?

We plant one tree, in honour of every family that acquires a kitten from Coon Cubs Nursery...

In 2025 we decided to start a Grove with Trees for Life, as our way of giving back to Scotland.

Through our Grove, we plant hope - shelter for birds, shade for deer, homes for the drastically declined population of Scottish Wild Cat and Red Squirrel, and a future for all living things, great and small!

And There's More...

Our cats can be seen at Maison de Moggy in Edinburgh...

If you would like to see how beautiful our maine coons really are, make sure to reserve a table at Maison de Moggy, Edinburgh's oldest and original cat café.

You'll be able to meet Monty - blue smoke male, and Beatrice - blue classic tabby female, a beautiful sibling pair from our Litter N (Nuthatch and Nightingale).

Meet the human family...

Here we are, me (Tiff), my partner Craig, and our four little human helpers! What started out as a personal passion and dream of mine, has become a reality thanks to my wonderfully supportive family! Thanks to this lot, our Maine Coons are raised alongside kids of all ages and handled daily with kiddie kisses and cuddles. Once you have a Maine Coon of your own, you'll never look back and I know you'll love your new kitten as much as we do!

Our Maine Coons

We pride ourselves on raising kittens that are extremely well socialised and super affectionate. Our kittens are surrounded by household noises, children of all ages, other cats and even a dog! They are handled daily from birth and given lots of kisses and cuddles.

All of our Maine Coons are very much our loved family members. We don't believe in confinement and although males and females need to be separated when females are in heat, they all live together and are allowed to roam the entire home and purpose built outdoor areas. The males do wear stud pants during indoor gatherings!

As well as being allowed to roam the house, our Maine Coons also enjoy access to a 20ft, purpose-built housing, along with two 12ft catios, which can be accessed from the house. The housing and catios offer safe spaces with a variety of large branches, shelving at different heights, tunnels, seating, hideaways, beds, cat trees and toys. The catios have roofs incase it rains but still allow the cats to chatter to the birds and breath in the fresh air. We truly believe that, as Maine Coons are predominantly indoor cats, the catios offer the best of both worlds and give them a better quality of life.

While we feel it's vitally important for our kittens to socialise with the adults, they do not have access to the housing or catios, until they've had their final vaccines. Instead, our kittens are kept in our bedroom from birth to 4 weeks of age. This stage is critical and we want to keep a close eye on babies and Mum. From age -8 weeks, the kittens make use of the kitten pen located in our sitting room, and this is where they learn to litter train, wean, play, climb, socialise with the other cats, and generally learn to be a well-rounded cat! From age 8 weeks until it's time to go to their new homes, the kittens are ready to start exploring the rest of the house and also have free reign (within safe parameters), although you can usually find them resting on a cat tree or a windowsill.

All of our adult cats and weaned kittens eat a high quality diet of Raw Complete, Akela 90:10 grain-free complete dry kibble, Akela 70:30 grain-free complete wet tins and occasionally, whole prey in the form of day old chicks!

All of our breeding males and females are extensively health tested before they can be used for mating. We test for over 45 genetic health conditions, including HCM, SMA, PRA and PK-Def, which are the more common conditions found in Maine Coons. We also test for blood type, breed data and physical traits. All of our cats including adults and kittens, are fully vaccinated, microchipped and registered with TICA. We are also a FIV/FeLV free household.
